1. It Just Does

I went to a play once
Then at the end
I opened my eyes up
Never saw it begin

Don’t know why I went there
Except she lived in the city
Talked about painting
And people and pity

It might be the season
It might be true
That doesn’t matter
Nothing you can do
You can’t fool feeling
You can’t start love
Can’t stop it either
It just does

Once I was waiting
About an hour or more
The clock on the building
Read a quarter to four

So I asked a bus boy
At the Cozy Corner Cafe
He said she weren’t even working
Wasn’t even her day
